The classic Tuscan wine from a top quality producer to the north-east of Siena in the south of the Classico zone.
The Felsina Chianti Classico is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes and so usually takes some time before it opens up to show its true character. The 2007 vintage was quite forward in its youth and is now drinking even more beautifully.
Tasting Notes
Deep attractive ruby red colour in the glass. Elegant fruity nose with marked scents of wild red berries overlaying mixed spices. This wine shows judicious tannins in that it opens beautifully within a year of release.
Winemaking Notes
100% Sangiovese grapes from vineyards over 50 years of age with a south-western exposure. Altitude 350-420 metres. Harvest takes place over a few weeks at best moment for the different vineyards.
Fermentation at 28-30C including daily punchdowns of the cap, followed by 10-15 days' maceration. 12 months' maturation in small-medium oak casks followed by 3-6 months' ageing in bottle prior to release.
